One Church - One Heart

By Ryan Dawson

What would happen if one Sunday, instead of staying in our separate church buildings, we stepped outside together—united by our faith, joined in worship, and inspired by the prayer of Jesus Himself?

That’s exactly what is happening on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ottawa Christian School soccer field (255 Tartan Drive).  Under the open sky, various churches from across South Ottawa—including Barrhaven, Manotick, and Riverside South —will gather as One Church with One Heart to worship the One who brings us all together: Jesus Christ.

Why This Matters:
Jesus prayed to His Heavenly Father in John 17:23 about the Church: "I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."  This isn’t just a nice idea. It’s Jesus’ greatest desire for the Church.

On July 27, we’ll embody this prayer—coming together across denominations, cultures, and communities—not as competitors, but as brothers and sisters united in Christ. Though we gather in different buildings week to week, we are one Church.  And on this day, we’ll make that truth visible to our city.

What to Expect:
• A powerful outdoor worship service led by a team of musicians from multiple congregations.
• Pastors and clergy from various traditions offering Scripture readings, prayers, and a devotional on unity in Christ.
• Time to pray together as the Body of Christ for the needs in our City.
An opportunity to learn about and support several ministries making a difference in our city by caring for widows, orphans, and refugees in Jesus’ name.
• A joyful picnic celebration after the service, featuring:
Food trucks: Angry Dragons, Mr. Sundae, Original Souvlaki.
Bouncy castles, games, and face painting for kids and youth.
Opportunities to serve, connect, pray, and build relationships across church lines.

Who’s Invited?
You are. Your family. Your neighbours. Your coworkers.
Bring a lawn chair, your appetite, and an open heart.

Let’s be the answer to Jesus’ prayer. Let’s make unity more than a value—let’s make it visible.
Please mark your calendar and share the invitation with others.
