A Fresh Season - A Faithful God
By Ryan Dawson
The crisp air, the hint of turning leaves, and the rhythms of a new school year remind us that Fall is here—a season of change, fresh starts, and new opportunities. Whether you are a student settling into classes, a parent adjusting to new routines, a career person leaning into new work, or a grandparent cherishing family moments, God’s Word gives us a solid foundation:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NLT)
Fall invites us to trust God again—with our schedules, our work, our families, and our future. God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23), which means His grace and strength are present and available for you today, no matter what the last season looked like. The good, the hard, and the in-between can all be laid at the feet of Jesus.
This new season is a chance to walk forward in faith, knowing the Lord is faithful. We can believe Him for a fruitful fall, not because we have it all figured out, but because He does. I’m banking on this!
I know for me there is always the temptation to rely on my own understanding, and ways of doing things, but the Fall season is a great opportunity to once again commit to seeking God as a first priority. When we prioritize our time in relationship with the Lord, through daily time in His Word, prayer, Sunday worship, and community life, we are intentionally putting God first, and this posture will enable us to hear and respond to the Lord’s leading. God will show us the path and the paths we need to take when we prioritize seeking Him.
So, let’s embrace this season with open hands and open hearts, trusting that the One who paints the leaves with color is also shaping our lives with His goodness. May we, as a church family, lean fully into Jesus—together—expectant for what He will do in and through us this Fall.
Blessings, Ryan
