Faithful in Every Season

by Vanessa Dawson

As I was cleaning up the flower gardens recently, trimming bushes and cutting back old growth, I was reminded of God’s faithful presence—not only in fruitful times, but also when things look withered, dry and lifeless.

God is always at work, nurturing us to produce fruit in the right season. When life feels barren, we can still find joy in His presence and grow in our trust in Him. He is faithful and good, and He will meet us in every season.

There is life even when we cannot see it.

As I removed the dead flowers, I remembered that the perennials beneath the soil were still alive. Their roots remained firmly planted, quietly nourished by the earth. Though little life was visible, new growth would emerge and flowers would bloom again.

Our walk with God can be much the same. Some seasons feel vibrant and fruitful; others bring waiting, disappointment or spiritual dryness. Not seeing what God is doing doesn’t mean He is absent. He is working beneath the surface, strengthening our roots and deepening our faith.

God is faithful to bring fruit in the right season.

Our lives are held in His hands. We don’t need to manufacture growth or rush the process. Our invitation is to remain rooted in Him, trust His timing and draw nourishment from His Word and presence. Even in barren seasons, God is cultivating something beautiful in us.

Whatever season you find yourself in, God has not left you. He is present in both flourishing and difficult times. Reflect on where He might be nurturing new growth in your life.

Take a few quiet moments this week to ask God, “Lord, what are You teaching me, and how can I grow closer to You in this season?” Choose one way to remain rooted in Him—through prayer, reading His Word or worship.

"They are like trees planted along the riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit." — Jeremiah 17:8 (NLT)

May we be people whose roots grow deep in the Lord, confident in His goodness, sustained by His presence and hopeful for the fruit He will bring in every season.

With love, Vanessa
