Marks of a Great Church
By Ryan Dawson
What makes a church truly great? Is it the size of its congregation, the beauty of its building, or the success of its programs? While these things may catch our attention, God’s Word reveals that the true greatness of a church lies in its reflection of God’s heart.
We’re excited to invite you on an inspiring journey as we launch our new sermon series: Marks of a Great Church. Over the course of eight weeks, we’ll dive deep into God’s blueprint for His Church, exploring what it means to embody His love, mission, and power. Together, we’ll uncover the qualities that make a church not just good but great in the eyes of God.
Here’s what you can look forward to in the weeks ahead:
1. Great Commandment: Making Love Our Highest Goal
A Great Church will embody the Great Commandment of Love. As Jesus taught, love for God and others is the foundation of everything we do. Together, we’ll explore how love can transform our relationships and our mission.
2. Great Connection: Becoming a Church OF Prayer
A Great Church will exhibit Great Connection through prayer. Prayer is the lifeline of a thriving church, linking us directly to the heart of God. Learn how to deepen your prayer life and strengthen our community’s spiritual connection.
3. Great Commission: Making Disciples of All Nations
A Great Church will emphasize the Great Commission. Jesus called us to go and make disciples, and this week, we’ll be challenged to step into our role as His ambassadors to a world in need.
4. Great Compassion: Sharing God’s Heart
A Great Church will extend Great Compassion. God’s heart breaks for the hurting, and so should ours. Let’s discover how to be His hands and feet, sharing His love with a broken world.
5. Great Collaboration: Cultivating Unity as the One Church
A Great Church will enable Great Collaboration. Unity isn’t just a nice idea; it’s a reflection of God’s nature. We’ll explore how to break down barriers and work together as one body, and one Church in the city.
6. Great Community: Enjoying Kingdom Life Together
A Great Church will enjoy Great Community. Life in God’s Kingdom is meant to be shared. This week, we’ll celebrate the joy and strength that comes from doing life together in Christ.
7. Great Commitment: A Living Sacrifice to God
A Great Church will encourage Great Commitment. Following Jesus requires wholehearted devotion. Discover what it means to live as a living sacrifice, fully committed to His purposes.
8. Great Capacity: Experiencing the Power of God
A Great Church will experience Great Capacity through the power of the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t call us to accomplish His mission on our own strength. Come and be inspired to tap into God’s unlimited power for His glory.
This series is not just about hearing great messages; it’s about becoming the Church God intended. We believe these eight marks will inspire, challenge, and equip you to grow deeper in your faith and stronger as part of the Body of Christ.
Let’s journey together to discover the Marks of a Great Church and become the Church God calls us to be! Join us starting this Sunday and together, let’s pursue God’s heart!
